iCRAG

Delve into Ireland’s geological past and meet researchers working on the materials needed for Ireland’s sustainable future at the iCRAG exhibit at the Cork Carnival of Science.

iCRAG will produce an exhibit focused on the role of earth sciences in a sustainable future for our society. Our exhibit will use a variety of hands-on demonstrations to tell a story. Beginning millions of years in the past, visitors will learn how Earth’s climate has changed through time and what Ireland looked like whilst crucial minerals and metals formed in the rocks beneath our feet. Visitors will then be challenged to think about sustainability and the minerals and metals they carry around with them on a daily basis in their smartphones and laptops. They will learn where the minerals come from and how Irish rocks are vitally important to the future of our society.
